Lately, I have heard some men behind the monitor give me some crap over not playing ball at JJK. Here's the thing: When I was in high school, I thought that a young woman in a tight-fitting pair of jeans and a low cut shirt with a lot of cleavage was a heck of a lot more interesting than chasing a football. Chase wiggletails or chase a football? LOL. Having said that, the 2 most retarded arguments in sports IMO are: 1. You have to play it to know it. 2. You shouldn't pull for a team unless you live in that state. I am the man that stood behind the Indians when they were 0-10,1-9, game after game when there were only 20 in the stands. Where were you then? I am the man who volunteered to coach Little League for years when the other men did nothing. Where were you? Did you walk off a 12-hr shift at work in uniform sprinting to get to the field in time? I'd doubt it. Some of the most successfull coaches in the nation never played a snap. I have had many tell me how well-coached my teams were (including statechamp92-who did play). I have given my alma mater THOUSANDS of dollars, as well as hundreds of volunteer hours helping the future TRIBE players out. I am the one who will shuck out $5 every game on half and halfs that I'll never win for the volleyball/softball teams that nobody in this region gives a damn about. I'd wager that those who have run the trap about me cannot truthfully match that. I have been as avid a fan to the TRIBE that there is, not one of those good 'ol fairweather "Kelly fans" that likes to talk smack, but didn't bother to stand in a freezing rain, us down 40-0 encouraging the kids. I made a heckuva impression on the GC folks at Legion a few years back by being the only one in red to continue to stand right behind the boys, handing out encouragement in a blowout loss while the rest of the "Kelly fans" sat on their hands. Yes sir, I do indeed have a right to watch and comment on Kelly athletics, and will continue to do so whether anybody likes it or not. So to quote my good friend Freddy: F THE HATERS!


BTW: I have had some folks tell me that this dude is burrhead or LPDFTBL. I don't really buy into that because burrhead and LPDFTBL at least have the ability to type in English and spell correctly (it isn't you is it Counts? lol). I know English and spelling were taught at Wise. I learned a bit myself, so it couldn't be the teachers, therefore it must have been the BUFFOON that was daydreaming at the desk.

Good post I agree that while it may help that a coach has played the sport they are coaching it is not 100% necessary.

At the LL level I think it is more important for the kids to have a good role model that may be lacking in X's and O's than a football "mastermind" that sets a poor example for the kids


As far as the threat that I removed personal attacks are not tolerated and posts that IMO have no purpose other than to stir up crap will be removed

What does it matter if someone has or has not played a sport at the respective school they support? That to me is such a juvenile attitude - down right assinine in fact. Schools and their athletic teams need as much support as they can get. I've heard some very idiotic crap on this forum, but I'm not sure this doesn't take the cake.

Truly, I think it's just someone that either:

A - Wants to cause someone or some group problems on here, which is immature and as a matter of fact cowardly to the nth degree or

B- Really is ignorant to the point it's hard to believe they know how to utilize a computer with an internet connection.

I played at Kelly. I never want to down a school and a community that has molded me into who I am. Yet in a lot of ways I almost had to ignore most of them just so I wouldn't have quit. I don't care what they say, and I'll say it anytime they give me the chance too. Kelly fans are the worst around. When things are going good, they are claiming to be die hard supporters. "When I die I'll be Indian dead." I have heard some of them make that claim. But where are they? No where to be found. I wasn't there for 0-10; I was there for 1-9. I got a small taste of how it was. These so called "supporters" were people you never saw around until after we won a game or two in a row. Football and Wrestling were the best years of my life. No doubt about it. I probably wouldn't even start this year out there, they are solid. But I'd give anything to go back and play the game and take the mat ONE more time. That's the way our "supporters", and "die hard fans" should be when they are supposed to be behind us. I've also found that most of these people around here are always trying to find someone to blame for their teams being bad. They always pointed the finger at Coach Salyers. He was NOT the problem. In those years that we are still trying to fully get out of, it was us. The players were the problem because we had no heart. Some of them didn't believe in Coach Salyers because they were still stuck in the Coach Saunders era of things. I didn't play for Saunders, but I still respect him. I respect Coach Salyers just as much if not more. You people are going to see a turn for the better in the tribe this year. This year they bust out of the funk that we started to leave behind last year. Work is there for me these days, but I'll tell you this, I'll be there. I know who the "supporters" are. And when The Indians are running up and down the field scoring touchdowns, I don't want to see you out there sporting the red and white colors. This would prove that you are a fraud and shouldn't be sitting in the stands. These boys this year don't care; they know how it is just like I do. It's good to have a roar of the crowd. But they really only care about winning, and that is something they are going to do. Good luck to them. Like I said, when things are going good, you'll see a change. If I were playing again though, I'd tell them to stay home. If they weren't for me in the hard times I wouldn't want them here now. That's the way I see it.

Yeah it helps to have played, but there are good coaches who didn't. Not playing doesn't mean you can't coach anymore than playing means you can coach.
